In this match both teams scored a total of 859 runs. Sri Lanka's successful target of 430 runs is the second highest run chase in ODI cricket history. Earlier in 2006, South Africa had achieved the target of 438 runs against Australia. Despite Brook's record-breaking innings, England could not win and Sri Lanka showed how important partnerships and courage in the last overs are when chasing a big target.
